I'm Nervous To Ask This...

I’m not usually one for birthday fuss, and I never want presents. Most years, I just focus on spending time with the people I love.
But this year feels different.

A New Goal for My Next Chapter

More than anything, I want to invest in my future — by purchasing the creative space that has shaped my 2025 so far.

At the end of 2024, I moved out of a rented shared studio and into a small commercial space on my own.
It’s only been six months, but in that short time, it’s already transformed my work — giving me the space, focus, and independence I’ve needed for years.

Now, I’ve been given the chance to buy it.

Why This Studio Matters

And if you know anything about the state of creative spaces right now, you’ll know that studios are closing down around the world.

I want to protect this one — not just for me, but for the music, videos, and ideas that come to life here.
It’s a place to collaborate with other artists. A place to grow.

It also means I won’t have to rely on hiring external studios or recording in a spare bedroom anymore.
At this point in my career, I feel a certain level of professionalism is not just expected — it’s necessary.

I mean… imagine if I finally recorded that Tuesday Talks episode with John Mayer.
You don’t invite John to your house. You invite him to your studio.

The Timeline

I have 365 days to buy it.
The total cost is $250,000.

I’m not launching a Kickstarter. No merch bundles. No pressure.
Just an honest invitation — to be part of something lasting.

How You Can Support

  • $1+ — I’ll send you a personal thank-you email

  • $100+ — I’ll write your name on the studio wall — literally. A permanent reminder that you helped build it

If you happen to have the means to contribute more than that, just reply to this email. I’ll make sure your generosity is acknowledged with something thoughtful and meaningful — a reward that truly honours your support.

💬 Let Me Preempt a Few Doubts…

“Why not just get a loan or use your business income?”
I’m doing both. I’m saving aggressively, continuing to work full-time, and exploring financing options.
But this is a big leap — and I want to do it in a way that doesn’t compromise the independence I’ve spent a decade building.

“Are you asking your audience to fund a private asset?”
Fair question. This isn’t about buying property as an investment or building a portfolio.
This is about securing the creative space that makes everything I do possible — my workbench, my classroom, my stage.

“Do I get anything for supporting?”
Yes — but not in a transactional way. I’ve created heartfelt ways to say thank you (see above).
If you’re supporting, it’s because you believe in the work and want to help build what comes next.

“Will I own part of the studio if I contribute?”
No — this isn’t a co-ownership model. If successful, I’ll be the legal owner.
But your name, your belief, your contribution — those will live on the walls.
And in everything I make inside them.

🔒 A Quick Note on Transparency

I run a registered UK limited company and am fully VAT-registered.
Any contributions you make will be declared as income and used solely to support the purchase and development of my studio space.

This is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible.
It also does not imply ownership, investment, or future financial return.

You’re simply supporting my independent work — and helping build something lasting.

Whether or not you choose to contribute — thank you for being here.
Every view, every listen, every kind message has helped me get to this point.

But if you do want to help me build something permanent… this is the most meaningful time to do so.

With love and endless gratitude,
Mary
